I am an immigrant and I want to learn English.

English is the native language in the United States. If you have recently moved to this country or want to make a change in your life and learn English, don’t hesitate—do it. The language will not only break the barrier that limits your access to many better-paying job opportunities, but it will also be a great exercise for your brain, as learning a different language is an excellent way to train your mind and even prevent degenerative diseases like dementia or Alzheimer’s.

At Hispana, we help you.

It has been said that another language is like possessing a second soul. For immigrants in the United States, that can be difficult to achieve, because finding English classes is often confusing, and private lessons can be costly.

Hispana has a group of volunteers who teach English as a second language to immigrant students. Classes are held either in a classroom or at the student’s place of residence. During this process, volunteers and their “students” often form lasting friendships, creating meaningful connections and a deeper soul for the entire community.

Although an immigrant to the United States may bring an impressive résumé of university degrees, skills, and abilities, the language barrier sidelines and marginalizes thousands. The stories are endless and well known.

HISPANA is a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to address the challenges faced by migrants and refugees.
